Look, we’re broke enough that we’ll jump through a hoop or two to score free food. But there’s one line we won’t cross: paying to get something “free.” You know, those pesky deals where restaurants advertise FREE in big letters, but you actually have to spend $10 first. No thanks.
But there is an actually free deal for St. Patrick’s Day this year at Krispy Kreme. The beloved hot and fresh doughnut chain gives out many freebies throughout the year, and March 17th is the latest giveaway. You don’t have to spend anything to get your free doughnut, we promise — but there is one small hoop to jump through.
How to Get a Free Krispy Kreme Doughnut
On March 16th and 17th, Krispy Kreme is giving out free doughnuts for St. Patrick’s Day. For those two days, the chain’s original glazed doughnuts will be dyed green, which they call Green O’riginal glazed doughnuts. Cute.
To get a green glazed doughnut for free, all you have to do is show up wearing green. Considering it’s St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, you might be planning on wearing something green anyway. And if not, chances are there’s something green in your wardrobe. Really, this isn’t a huge ask, so we’re on board.
Plus, the press release doesn’t specify what “wearing green” means. Got a Green Bay Packers jersey? That’s a definite free doughnut. How about a John Deere hat? Seems like that would count. How about a shamrock temporary tattoo, or some green carnival beads from that trip to New Orleans 10 years ago? Novelty Grinch socks? We’re betting those all count, too.
So just put on your best green thing, head over to Krispy Kreme (in-store or in the drive-thru!), and get your free green glazed doughnut.
