Home Depot is going green — and not in the way you might expect.

According to its website, the home improvement chain has expanded its inventory to include a line of colorful cannabis grinders from the hydroponics company Vivosun. Reviews indicate that the retailer has been selling the product as early as June 2022.

Shoppers can find the weed paraphernalia — marketed as “spice grinders with pollen scrapers” — hidden under the “garlic presses” category. Product photos double down on the “spice grinder” masquerade. We see someone pulverizing bay leaves into a fine powder alongside a second graphic that informs consumers that they can “enjoy the pleasures of cooking, making home herbal remedies, and tea” with the help of this versatile tool. (The included “pollen scraper” remains unexplained).

When Cheapism reached out to Home Depot about the surprising new item, a spokesperson clarified that the retailer doesn’t “specifically sell products designed for cannabis use,” adding that the grinder is a “kitchen item that has multiple usages.”

But deadheads, philosophy majors, and Haight-Ashbury veterans will know that Home Depot’s spice grinder is quite simply a tool to grind up cannabis flower. (Have you ever seen a “spice grinder” with a built-in kief catcher?) Redditors also saw through the marketing malarkey, though the company’s pivot from DIY to THC caught some users off guard.

Bud enthusiasts intrigued by Home Depot’s new additions should know that Vivosun’s aluminum grinders sell between $12 and $16, with most models receiving positive reviews. Of the green model (a best seller), MedicinallyMedicated writes that it is a “very good herb grinder” that will leave you feeling “elevated” and “happy.”
