Just on the heels of Ford’s major recall, automaker Chrysler has one of its own. Over 320,000 Jeep plug-in hybrids have been recalled due to an extremely serious battery issue, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Why Are the Jeeps Catching Fire?

Specific model years of Jeep plug-in hybrids may have been built with a high-voltage battery pack that was manufactured with “cells which may be susceptible to separator damage.” According to the Safety Recall Report, separator damage can lead to a vehicle fire, which can occur while parked or while driving.
Which Jeep Vehicles Are Being Recalled?

Jeep is recalling two models for the faulty batteries:
- 2020-2025 Jeep Wranglers
- 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokees
How Many Jeeps Is Chrysler Recalling?

As of this writing, Jeep is recalling 320,065 cars: 228,221 Wranglers and 91,844 Grand Cherokees, according to ABC News.
