If you’ve been side-eyeing the fries at KFC for the last five years, here’s a late summer treat for you. The chicken giant is bringing back the chunky, seasoned potato wedges that used to own the side-dish slot — and they’re not coming alone. Wings are on the way, too.
Here’s the scoop.
What Did KFC Announce?

On August 11, KFC announced in a press release that the company is bringing back fan favorites, Potato Wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings, nationwide on August 18.
Wedges, a mid-’90s menu addition that reached cult status in the early 2000s, were discontinued in 2020 in favor of thin fries.
The wings, marinated and double-breaded in the brand’s Extra Crispy flour, disappeared two years ago.
Why Are They Coming Back?

“People called, and the Colonel is answering,” reads the press release. Years of social media pleading, thousands of petition signatures, and a Tampa test run that sold out in some locations finally pushed it over the line.
“Wedge-lovers, we heard you — and we agree it’s been five long years without wedges. But the wait is over,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, KFC U.S. president. She called it part of the “Kentucky Fried Comeback,” a campaign to pull fan-favorite items back into rotation.
How Can Customers Order Them?

You can order the Wedges solo, swapped into any meal, or paired with wings in the new six-piece Wings & Wedges Combo with a drink. The $20 Wings & Wedges Fan Favorites Box includes 10 wings, 12 nuggets, wedges, biscuits, and dipping sauces. Other promos drop alongside: a $3.99 chicken sandwich, “20 Wings for $20” starting September 4 (digital exclusive), and the ongoing $10 Tuesdays.
What Should You Expect?

KFC promises wedges will return exactly how fans remember them — thick, skin-on, seasoned cuts, crispy at the edges, soft in the middle, and The Hot & Spicy Wings keep their marinade-plus-crunch formula.
