Planning a last-minute grocery run or suddenly realize you forgot cranberries and pie crust? Knowing the official Kroger Thanksgiving hours can save you from a frustrating trip. Most Kroger locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day but will close earlier than usual, often around mid-afternoon. Because hours can vary by store and region, it’s a good idea to confirm your local location’s schedule before heading out for any holiday essentials. Here’s everything you need to know about Kroger’s Thanksgiving hours.

Is Kroger Open on Thanksgiving?

Kroger, one of the largest grocery chains in the United States, also operates Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, and Fred Meyer, among others. The company has traditionally kept its doors open on Thanksgiving Day — albeit with modified holiday hours. This year, customers can expect Kroger to be open on Thanksgiving 2025, though many locations will only remain open on Thanksgiving Day until 5 p.m. or 3 p.m. in some areas. Kroger pharmacies will be closed, however.

Despite plans to remain open on November 27, store hours may vary by location. Your best bet? Give your local Kroger outpost a call ahead of Turkey Day to confirm whether the store will be open (or operate with reduced hours).

In addition to knowing store hours, it’s a good idea to stay updated on Kroger’s Thanksgiving deals and specials. From turkeys to trimmings, you can usually find discounts to help keep your holiday meal costs low. The grocery store even put together a Thanksgiving schedule meant to help customers keep their holiday meal on track.

Kroger is also offering a cost-effective option for those looking to simplify their holiday preparations. This year, the company introduced a complete Thanksgiving meal bundle designed to serve 10 people for under $50—about $4.75 per person. The bundle includes a frozen turkey, traditional sides like stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, yams, rolls, and dessert fixings, making it a convenient one-stop solution for holiday hosts. In comparison with competitors, Kroger’s deal stands out for its variety, offering more side dishes than Walmart’s basket, while remaining similarly priced to Aldi’s offering.

Unlike Kroger, not every grocery chain keeps its doors open during the holidays. Trader Joe’s, for example, will be closed on Thanksgiving, giving employees the opportunity to spend the day with their families.
