Costco has a special place in a lot of shoppers’ hearts, and many consider the abundance of meal kits a highlight of the wholesale club. But which kits are worth buying and which ones should you leave on the shelf?
Here are eight Costco meal kits you shouldn’t waste your money on.
Gyro Meal Kit
To put it plainly, the gyro meal kit at Costco sucks. From the barely there flavor to the soggy vegetables, this one is a resounding “No thank you.” You are much better off ordering take-out from your favorite Greek restaurant than rocking with this kit. Trust us.
Wraps
Costco offers a couple of different wrap varieties and unless you plan on eating them right away, we advise against buying them. These bad boys don’t hold up too well in the fridge, and they wind up soggy every time.
Bacon Cheddar Burger Kit
The moment we saw this — the moment Reddit saw this — holes were poked all over the place. First things first, reheated burgers don’t even taste all that great. Then you have the fact that the onions, lettuce, and tomato are just hanging out in a pile together, sharing their flavors and juices.
This entire thing looks flat-out disgusting, and we’re holding tight to our belief that a box of frozen burger patties is plenty convenient for a cookout, making this kit totally unnecessary.
Mac and Cheese
Costco’s mac and cheese is like dairy assault. It has an alfredo sauce base that packs tons of creaminess but lands at the bottom of your stomach alongside the large amounts of shredded cheese and twisty noodles with a decidedly poignant thud.
There should be a warning label on the cover for how full you’ll feel after a serving. This stuff is way too heavy if you ask us.
Caesar Salad
We promise there are a ton of ways to accomplish Caesar salad at a lower price than this kit. Even if you don’t want to venture out of Costco to get the job done, the bagged Earthbound Farm Caesar salad in the produce section is cheaper and a staple for lots of shoppers.

Chicken Alfredo
There are a lot of quick and easy ways to make chicken alfredo if you’re low on time or just don’t feel like cooking. First of all, it’s not the most complicated pasta dish you can make homemade, but if you’re steadfast on cutting corners, you could shred some of Costco’s rotisserie chicken, boil some pasta, and grab a jar of alfredo sauce instead of making your own.
It beats reheating the meal kit version and is guaranteed to be cheaper too.
Meatballs with Rigatoni
Costco recently released a new pasta meal kit: meatballs with rigatoni. According to Redditors who have tried it, the meatballs are too big, too dry, and too expensive to make this kit worth purchasing. You’d be better off ordering Olive Garden to-go.
Salmon Milano with Basil Pesto Butter
Plenty of people buy this salmon, and we’re going to just come right out and admit it: We don’t get it. It’s salmon with butter that’s mixed with a little bit of pesto, folks.
There is nothing to this kit. It’s not providing you with any added layer of convenience that a meal kit should. Don’t get caught in the trap.
