Some Outback Steakhouse fans will have to find a new spot for their Bloomin’ Onion fix, as it will no longer be blooming in specific locations across the country. The Aussie-themed steakhouse has closed several locations across the U.S., including two in its home state of Florida.

The closures are from Tampa-based parent company Bloomin’ Brands, which confirmed that multiple Outback Steakhouse locations are closing as part of an ongoing review of underperforming stores.

The restaurant group said the closures followed a “periodic review” of restaurant performance. A company spokesperson told USA Today that the decisions were part of a broader turnaround plan and were based on factors such as sales, customer traffic, and potential investment needs. Employees from affected restaurants were offered transfers to nearby locations where possible.

The company didn’t release a complete list of the latest closures, but the following have been confirmed by local outlets and obtained by USA Today:

  • Birmingham, Alabama (20 Midtown and U.S. 280)
  • Jacksonville Beach, Florida (3760 South 3rd Street)
  • Naples, Florida (4910 U.S. 41 North)
  • Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Jones Creek Boulevard)
  • Silver Spring, Maryland (Ellsworth Place Mall)
  • Merrick, New York (Merrick Mall)
  • Madison, Wisconsin (E. Towne Boulevard; nearby Bonefish Grill also closed)

Bloomin’ Brands, which also owns Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, operates more than 1,450 restaurants worldwide, including more than 670 Outback Steakhouses in the U.S. and about 350 international restaurants, mostly in Brazil and South Korea.

The company went through a round of cuts in early 2024, when it closed more than 40 restaurants nationwide — most of them Outback locations.
