Shamrock Shake season is upon us and to the delight of mint lovers everywhere, its arrival is ahead of schedule. Since the popular treat is associated with St. Patrick’s Day, it typically returns closer to March 17, but this year McDonald’s is bringing it back on Presidents Day, Feb. 20.

First introduced in 1970, the iconic shake has been a coveted menu item at McDonald’s for generations. From its delicious mint flavor to the frothy whipped cream on top, the shake is perfection. The only way McDonald’s does mint better is with the Shamrock Shake’s fellow limited-time mate: the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. Combining the essence of the original Shamrock Shake — minty flavors and pale green coloring — with chocolatey Oreos is nothing short of genius.
