An assortment of Subway sandwiches and wraps from the Subway value menu, filled with meats, cheeses, vegetables, and lettuce, are displayed on a round table inside a Subway restaurant, with a menu board visible in the background.

Just months after shutting down its loyalty rewards program, Subway is really trying to win customers back. Right now, that means value menus, which the chain introduced for the first time in its 60-year history.

The sandwich giant launched its first-ever value menu at participating locations nationwide, the company announced in an April 28 press release.

According to Subway, the new “Fresh Value Menu” features 15 entrees under $5, with nearly every item offering fewer than 500 calories and more than 20 grams of protein.

“Subway’s Fresh Value Menu proves you don’t have to choose between eating well and saving money,” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer, North America. “Your wallet and stomach deserve freshly-baked bread, real protein and the perfect combination of sauces and hand-chopped veggies – all for under $5.”

What’s in the Fresh Value Menu?

The headliners of the new menu are the Deli Faves, which include four deli-inspired six-inch sandwiches for $3.99. The sandwiches, which are fully customizable, include two classic options like the BLT and Cold Cut Combo, as well as two new ones: Ham & Salami (Black Forest ham, Genoa salami, Italian-style provolone, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, and honey mustard) and Spicy Pepperoni (aged pepperoni, Pepper Jack, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños, and creamy Sriracha).

Protein Pockets, which launched earlier this year, are another addition to the value menu. These soft tortilla wraps are packed with more than 20 grams of protein, along with veggies and sauces, and come in four options: Turkey Ham, Baja Chicken, Peppercorn Ranch Chicken, and Italian Trio.

As the final part of the inaugural value menu, Subway will a feature a Sub of the Day, a $4.99 six-inch sub with the option to add chips and a drink for $2. The deals include Meatball Monday (Meatball Marinara), Tuna Tuesday (Classic Tuna), Sweet Onion Teriyaki Wednesday (Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki), Turkey Thursday (Oven-Roasted Turkey), Forest Ham Friday (Black Forest Ham), BMT Saturday (Italian B.M.T.), and Spicy Italian Sunday (Spicy Italian).

Will the Subway Value Menu Win Over Customers?

The chain has been trying all kinds of strategies to salvage declining sales and reclaim its former glory, including closing stores. Subway reported a nearly 6% decline in sales in 2025, down to $8.9 billion, with about 18,773 locations.

But according to customers, it may be a little too late for the sandwich chain.

“Name a place I will never eat at again? This one,” said one user on Reddit in response to the news of the Subway’s value menu.

“It’s a salad on one long crouton. They don’t put enough filling on the sandwiches. Especially those pathetic little cheese triangles. Decorator cheese as call it. If they toast it, those little tiny triangles disappear into the bread,” said another Redditor.

“For 6 dollars I can get a 6 inch Wawa sub, chips, and a soft drink. And the Wawa sub is better tasting,” a third user wrote.
