Good & Gather Pea Zucchini Kale & Thyme Baby Food
Target

It seems like nothing you buy at the grocery store is safe anymore, and now that unfortunately includes baby food. Target quietly issued a recall on some of its store brand baby food last month, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration just listed it as a Class II recall. Here’s what we know, and what to do if you have the recalled baby food.

What’s Wrong with the Baby Food?

The recalled Target baby food has elevated levels of lead, according to the FDA. This is a Class II recall, which means that “use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Target has recalled some tubs of Good & Gather (Target’s brand) baby food. Only one flavor is affected: Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purèe. A total of 26,500 units are part of the recall.

Target immediately removed the recalled Good & Gather baby food products from shelves, according to a statement given to USA Today by the company. However, consumers may still have the recalled product in their homes even if it’s no longer being sold in stores.
