Target

Online shopping at Target is getting more convenient as the chain moves to expand the availability of next-day delivery to its customers. The big-box retailer is investing $100 million to add more than half a dozen order processing centers to boost its ability to deliver items to households the next day.

For consumers who need their items quickly but don’t have time to head to the store, Target’s next-day delivery aims to be a viable solution, and shoppers who flock to Amazon for such convenience might be inclined to give Target a whirl instead, especially if they can find lower prices. And if you’re a member of Target’s Circle rewards program (which doesn’t cost a dime) you’ll receive additional incentives and discounts.

Target will fuel its timely fulfillment efforts through its larger stores, which have dedicated backroom space meant for filling online orders. The retail giant plans on growing its “sortation” network to more than 15 locations by the end of 2026 from nine. Target is anticipating delivery of about 50 million packages this year, a 150% increase from 2020 when its first fulfillment facility in Minneapolis was opened.

As a mom of multiple young children, she tries to maintain a sustainable lifestyle for her family. She grows vegetables in her garden, gets her meat in bulk from local farmers, and cans fruits and vegetables with friends. Her kids have plenty of hand-me-downs in their closets, but her husband jokes that before long, they might need to invest in a new driveway thanks to the frequent visits from delivery trucks dropping off online purchases (she can’t pass up a good deal, after all).
