New Target Extra Large Recycled Reusable Bag Red
Target

Nobody is safe from 2022’s wave of inflation — not even shoppers at Target, with all its great deals, and not even when the retail giant is trying to do right by the environment: selling its own version of Ikea’s famous reusable $1 bag. You’ll just have to pay five times the price for it.

Consumers may be familiar with Ikea’s iconic blue and yellow reusable bag, the Frakta. It can fit pretty much anything, from grocery shopping and laundry to snacks for a day at the beach. At only $1, the bag is environmentally friendly and super affordable.

FRAKTA Shopping bagAccording to the Swedish furniture seller, the Frakta is one of its bestsellers — there are millions out there around the world taken home since they were invented in 1989.

Now Target has caught up — maybe because it’s been feeling the heat from environmental activists and shoppers urging it to reduce plastic usage. A 2019 petition titled “Target, Stop Filling the World With Plastic Bags” has accrued more than a half-million signatures.

Target’s version of Ikea’s bag is a bit smaller and, of course, red, in keeping with Target’s color palette. You can buy the reusable bag in person for $5 at Target stores across the country or online
