Grocery chain Winn-Dixie is taking a step toward reimagining itself and reassessing its priorities. Southeastern Grocers — the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket — announced on Monday that it will rebrand as The Winn-Dixie Company in early 2026, according to a press release.
The Winn-Dixie rebrand follows a major restructuring a year earlier, after CEO Anthony Hucker and a group of private investors bought the company back from Aldi U.S., which had acquired it in 2024.

The Jacksonville-based grocer also announced a renewed focus on Florida — where it has been rooted since 1925 — and plans to scale back nationwide.
“For a century, Winn-Dixie has proudly called Florida home,” said Anthony Hucker, Chairman and CEO. “As we enter our next century as The Winn-Dixie Company – a brand-new 100-year-old company – we are accelerating growth where our roots run deepest while staying true to our purpose of feeding and enriching the communities that have supported us for generations.”

The company confirmed it will sell or close 32 Winn-Dixie stores and eight Harveys Supermarkets in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Several are being sold to Food City and Piggly Wiggly, while others remain “pending” new ownership. Closures and transitions are expected to wrap up by early 2026, the company says.
“As we write our next chapter as The Winn-Dixie Company, we also want to acknowledge the people and communities beyond Florida who have been an integral part of our story. We are profoundly thankful to our associates and customers in these markets for their loyalty – for making Winn-Dixie and Harveys a meaningful part of their lives and trusting us to help nourish their families,” Hucker said in a statement.

Winn-Dixie will continue operating stores in southern Georgia, including Brunswick, Folkston, Lake Park, St. Simons Island, and Valdosta. Once the restructuring is complete, the company expects to run about 130 grocery stores and 140 liquor or adjacent stores in Florida and Georgia.
New Winn-Dixie Stores Opening in Florida

Winn-Dixie has bought three Hitchcock’s Markets — in Alachua, Keystone Heights, and Williston — which will reopen as Winn-Dixie locations in phases starting late 2025.
The Williston store at 434 E. Noble Ave. is set to open in December, replacing the nearby location that’s closing. Employees from the old store will have the option to transfer to the new one. The Alachua and Keystone Heights stores are scheduled to open by summer 2026.
The company said it’s also expanding its liquor format, adding third-party delivery, and bringing back its Lip Lickin’ Chicken line in 2026.
