The company that makes a frozen Aldi snack for kids has issued a recall — and the reason is making us sick to our stomachs.

Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Inc. initiated the recall of spinach bites back in January 2026, according to information on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website, because the affected product may contain rodent hair. Here’s what you need to know about the recall.

What’s Wrong With the Spinach Bites?

The recalled Aldi spinach bites have the “possibility of contamination with rodent hair,” according to the FDA. If that doesn’t make your skin crawl just thinking about it, we don’t know what will.

Because there was no press release issued by the FDA for the recall, we don’t have much more information than that. The manufacturer, Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods, doesn’t have any information on its website, either.

On March 16, 2026, the recall was upgraded to a Class II event. The FDA defines that as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” So it seems best to take it seriously.

Which Aldi Product Was Recalled?

The recalled Aldi product is Simply Nature brand Spinach Bites. They come frozen in a 12-ounce box, and the bites are shaped like dinosaurs and other kid-friendly shapes.

A total of 7,900 boxes are part of the recall. They were sold only at Aldi locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

If you have a box in your freezer, the UPC of the recalled product is 4099100247992. It will have the lot number of G25CF-02B stamped on the box.

Do not eat the recalled Simply Nature Spinach Bites or serve them to anyone. You can return them to the Aldi where you purchased them for a full refund.
