Some of the most convenient things Costco sells are the premade meals in the deli, but one of the popular kits was just recalled. Costco is contacting members to alert them of the recall, which affects the meatloaf and mashed potatoes meal kit. The recall includes dozens of states, so it’s time to check your fridge if you’ve recently purchased meatloaf from Costco. Here’s what you need to know about the recall.Â
What’s Wrong With the Costco Meatloaf?
An ingredient in the pre-made meatloaf kit may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the recall letter posted on Costco’s website. The problem stems from one ingredient in the meatloaf supplied by Griffith Foods Inc. The company has announced a recall of that particular ingredient, according to Costco.
However, there are no more specifics in the letter, so we don’t know which ingredient is the problem. Additionally, there is no information from Griffith Foods on its recall that prompted Costco to recall the meatloaf kits.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and anyone with a compromised immune system, the FDA said in the recall notice. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Thankfully, no illnesses or injuries have been reported, according to Costco.
Which Meatloaf Packages Were Recalled?
The recalled product is Kirkland Signature Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes and Glaze. It is sold refrigerated in the deli section near the rotisserie chickens and other pre-made, heat-and-eat meals. It is Costco item #30783.
The recalled meatloaf has sell by dates between 03/02/2026 and 03/13/2026. They were sold at Costco locations in Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and 26 states between March 2 and March 13.
