It’s going to be a tough year for restaurants as customers cut down on dining out in order to tighten their wallets. The latest casualty is Bahama Breeze, a sit-down chain owned by Darden Restaurants, the parent company of favorites like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. It just announced that the Caribbean-themed chain will be no more. Here’s what we know, including the full list of Bahama Breeze locations on the chopping block.

Why Is Bahama Breeze Shutting Down?

Last year, Darden announced that Bahama Breeze was “no longer a strategic priority,” according to a press release. That meant the company was trying to figure out what to do with the chain, whether it was to sell it or convert the locations to different restaurants that Darden owns. In May, the company even closed 15 Bahama Breeze locations in an effort to keep the chain profitable.

So it’s not really a big surprise that Darden has now announced that it will be closing Bahama Breeze completely. The chain began in the 1990s, and peaked at 43 locations in 2019, according to Restaurant Business Online. Right now, the chain is down to 28 restaurants, and all of them will be closed or converted into different restaurants.
