The Famous Fish Chowder, which reviewers say has “huge chunks” of fresh haddock, is made simply, with potatoes, onions, butter, dill, and cream. The secret? The broth comes from the haddock being cooked in the potato water.

Maryland: Soup’s On

Massachusetts: Ella’s Wood Burning Oven

Wareham There is some serious online debate happening on the best chowder on Cape Cod, and while Wareham doesn’t technically count as the Cape, chowder at Ella’s Wood Burning Oven is known and loved by locals.
