If you’ve recently bought power tools, take a second look at the brand and model, or you may risk serious injury.
DeWalt is recalling nearly 1.4 million miter saws due to safety hazards. There have been more than 570 reports of the saw’s rear safety guard breaking or detaching, creating a risk the user and bystanders could be struck by projectiles, or even come in direct contact with the blade. The company has received nine reports of laceration injuries.
The affected models — DWS779, DWS780 and DHS790 — were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and other hardware stores nationwide as well as online through sites including Amazon from April 2019 to May 2022. Consumers who own the tool can call DeWalt at 800-990-6421 or get information online about a free repair.
Additionally, Makita U.S.A. is recalling about 2,600 cordless hedge trimmers. The trimmers are missing a guard on the shear blade, raising the risk of laceration. No injuries have been reported.
The affected models have a teal and black handle with a steel blade, and Makita printed on the side. They were sold at home improvement, hardware, and other independent outdoor power equipment stores nationwide and online through Home Depot and Amazon between February and June 2022.
