Harley-Davidson

Summer is upon us, and motorcycle riders are getting their bikes ready to hit the road again. But Harley-Davidson owners should take note: The company just issued a recall on nearly 17,000 motorcycles due to a brake line problem. Here’s what you need to know about the latest Harley-Davidson recall.

What’s the Harley-Davidson Recall About?

The brake line in recalled models of Harley motorcycles may fail, causing a loss of rear breaking which may lead to a crash.

It’s caused by insufficient clearance between the brake line and the body control module. Over time, they can rub against each other, creating a hole in the brake line that allows brake fluid to escape and the brakes to stop working. If a rider doesn’t notice that brake fluid is leaking, they may not be aware that the brakes are not working properly until they’re riding it.

Harley-Davidson was first notified of this problem on March 5, 2026, according to the Safety Recall Alert from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Thankfully, the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries relating to this problem.

You’ll be able to take your motorcycle to any Harley-Davidson dealership where they’ll replace the body control module caddy to a newer version that allows for more room for the brake line. They’ll also inspect the rear brake line and repair or replace it if there’s damage. All recall repairs are free of charge.

If you have questions, you can contact Harley-Davidson at 1-800-258-2464. If you’re unsure if your motorcycle is part of the recall, you can check on the NHTSA recall website
