Hobby Lobby is officially a store on Amazon, so the crafty and the home decor-obsessed folks are jumping for joy. No more only having time to head to the store on the one day they’re closed. No more pushing around carts that are way too small for the merchandise sold at the store (so annoying). Now, it’s as simple as adding things to your Amazon cart right alongside your toothpaste and that cute new shirt you’ve had “Saved for later.”
But what about those sales flyers you see posted in Hobby Lobby’s aisles? You know: 60% off Spring Shop, 40% off Picture Frames, the list goes on. Here’s what you need to know about using Hobby Lobby on Amazon, including whether Amazon offers the same sales you see in-store.
Does Amazon Offer the Same Sales as the In-Store Hobby Lobby?
Any true Hobby Lobby shopper knows that when you venture into the store, the best way to shop is to follow the sales signs. If an aisle has one of the white signs touting a percentage off anything in the aisle, you waltz on down it. If one of those signs is absent, so are you. For Amazon’s part, however, those sales are not as prevalent. While some items look like they’re marked down from the original price (the same way other items on Amazon are), there doesn’t seem to be a blanket sale covering a certain sector of items the way you’d find in the store.
Does Amazon Offer Free Shipping for Hobby Lobby Items?
Not everything on Amazon’s Hobby Lobby store comes with free shipping or Prime’s speed. You can, however, filter your search results to only include items with those benefits if you’re not looking to pay shipping prices (which look like the linger between $6 to $8 depending on the item and your location). But listen, you’re probably spending that shipping charge in gas to go to Hobby Lobby anyway, so the convenience may be worth the shipping fee.
What’s the Selection Like?
Amazon’s Hobby Lobby store just rolled out, so we’re expecting it to ramp up as time goes on. For now, the selection seems to be varied with everything from Christmas decorations to hanging mirrors and statues of farm animals (Oh, Hobby Lobby…). The store has the following categories listed for departments:
- Arts, Crafts & Sewing
- Beauty & Personal Care
- Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry
- Grocery & Gourmet Food
- Health & Household
- Home & Kitchen
- Industrial & Scientific
- Office Products
- Patio, Lawn & Garden
- Pet Supplies
- Sports & Outdoors
- Tools & Home Improvement
- Toys & Games
Personally, if we’re going into a Hobby Lobby store for birthday party decorations, we almost always come out with a cart full of sparkly garden doo-dads, a new vase, artificial flowers for the vase, and some sort of cow wearing rain boots situation (if you know, you know). Shopping on Amazon instead might be the responsible decision.
