For fans of In-N-Out who don’t live on the West Coast, the popular burger chain’s expansion must seem like it’s moving at a glacial pace. People are clamoring to try animal style burgers themselves, so the slow pace of new openings set by the chain is frustrating. Luckily, In-N-Out has new locations listed on its website, so more people will become animal style devotees soon enough.
What Is In-N-Out?
If you’re asking that question, then you must not be from the West Coast. In-N-Out is arguably the best fast-food chain west of the Mississippi. It began in 1948 in California, and has amassed scores of loyal customers ever since.
The menu is simple, with only burgers, fries, and shakes — and unlike other fast-food giants, the emphasis is on the quality of the ingredients. It’s known for its Double-Double, a double cheeseburger with two slices of cheese. You can get that grilled animal style with mustard, pickles, and fried onions, if you want. Or try your fries animal style, too.
Because quality is the top priority, In-N-Out won’t open a new location further than 300 miles from one of its distribution centers. That’s because there are no freezers in the company, so beef and all other ingredients must be delivered within a day. When you understand that, it’s easier to see why expansion is not a priority for the chain.
A couple years ago, however, the company announced it was opening a headquarters in Tennessee. Ever since then, In-N-Out has been slowly popping up east of the Mississippi, with four locations near Nashville so far.
Where Are the New In-N-Out Locations?
In-N-Out has a grand openings page on its website, and right now there are six new locations listed — a lot for this company. They’re spread out over six states. They are:
- Hillsboro, Oregon: 2498 NE Town Center Dr.
- Las Vegas, Nevada: 3747 S Las Vegas Blvd #322
- Madison, Tennessee: 1900 Gallatin Pike North
- St. George, Utah: 4643 S. Pioneer Rd.
- Timnath, Colorado: 4911 Cima Vista Dr.
- Vancouver, Washington: 13511 SE 3rd Way
When Are They Opening?
Unfortunately, details about these openings are sparse beyond the addresses. There are no grand opening dates listed on any of the locations.
We do know, however, that once construction starts on a new In-N-Out, it takes about 8 or 9 months to open, according to news reports of past openings. If you live near any of the planned locations, your best bet is to check your local news for more information on when the restaurants are planning to open.
In the meantime, those of us who live east of the Mississippi continue to hope that we’ll eventually be able to get a Double-Double too — without paying for an airline ticket.
