Nothing beats a good ol’ $1.50 hot dog combo in Costco’s food court after a successful haul at the warehouse. Then again, a good dessert might give the dog a run for its money.

Well, the retailer now wants shoppers to leave the store completely full by adding a new, summery treat to its rotating menu of sundaes: the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae.

After receiving sour feedback from customers for its limited-time Caramel Churro Sundae back in March, Costco is betting on its latest food court addition, available at select locations for $2.99.

The seasonal dessert features a strawberry-flavored soft-serve base layered with strawberry topping and shortcake bites. The novelty is something of a specialty treat, considering Costco rarely strays from its traditional chocolate and vanilla soft-serve flavors.

Back in February, the wholesale giant introduced a mint-green soft serve for its Thin Mint-inspired sundae, though it wasn’t exactly a hit with shoppers.

The strawberry version, however, is already generating plenty of buzz on social media, with fans raving about the newcomer.

Laura Lamb, the influencer behind @costcohotfinds, shared the newest addition on Instagram and TikTok, calling it a “Top 3 of all time. This is so good.”

Other fans were equally enthusiastic, with some jokingly blaming Costco for their inevitable calorie splurge. “Costco stop, I’m going to be so fat,” one fan wrote. “Andddd just like that I’m going to renew my membership,” said another, while a third added, “I’m putting my shoes on right now!!!!”

But of course, this is one of those good-news, bad-news situations, with the bad news being that Costco only has room for two soft-serve flavors. So while strawberry reigns during the hot summer months, chocolate is taking a walk.
