While many grocery chains are trimming square footage, your favorite bougie grocer shows no signs of slowing down. Trader Joe’s just added two more stores to the board and has more under coming soon, because the Hawaiian shirts, tiki vibes, and Mandarin Orange Chicken have no limits.

Trader Joe’s confirmed on its website that two new stores are now open and multiple additional locations are listed as coming soon, with opening dates still to be announced.

The latest openings follow a December expansion wave that added new stores across several states, extending the chain’s steady growth into 2026. Rather than slowing construction, Trader Joe’s appears to be maintaining its neighborhood-by-neighborhood rollout strategy.

The quirky grocer operates in 42 states, with recent openings pushing its total count past 560 locations nationwide as of early 2026. The only states still without a Trader Joe’s are Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

“We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year,” a representative for Trader Joe’s told Nexstar.
