Costco woke up one morning and apparently thought, why not chaos today? That’s certainly what happened on January 30, when the warehouse behemoth shock-dropped a Nike collaboration and watched the internet — and its own aisles — descend into madness.

What Is This Collaboration About?

Ginormous lines formed at select Costcos, including locations in New York, Oregon, California, and Washington, with shoppers virtually going feral over pallets for a limited run of Kirkland Nike SB Dunk Low.

Nike SB is no stranger to unexpected collaborations, but pairing a hype sneaker with Kirkland’s famously modest branding landed as one of the most unhinged releases in recent memory. The collaboration itself wasn’t entirely out of nowhere. Kirkland’s Nike SB Dunk Low was announced last year with very little follow-up, leading many to assume the project had been shelved

Priced at roughly $135 a pair and restricted to one pair per membership, the Costco sneaker collaboration is turning the resale market upside down already, with shoes showing up on third-party seller websites like eBay, Goat, and StockX for between $400 to $5,000.

Yes, the world has officially gone mad.

What Are Costco’s Kirkland Nike SB Dunks?

The Nike SB Dunk Low Sneakers look like a Kirkland sweatshirt turned into a shoe. It uses a heather gray cotton upper that mirrors the texture of Kirkland sweatshirts, with the Kirkland logo stitched on the heel.

A hand holds a gray plastic handle with a label showing a hot dog and text reading "1/4 POUND PLUS ALL BEEF HOT DOG 1.50". Part of a sneaker and some bags are visible in the background.

The tongue tag copies Costco price labels, listing shoe details like another warehouse item. The insole features a Kirkland graphic, and yes, the $1.50 hot dog is in there, too. Each pair comes with extra laces and a removable Executive Membership-style tag.

Which Locations Are Selling the Kirkland Nike Dunks?

According to a list compiled by Complex, the following Costco locations are selling the Nike SB Dunk Low.

  • 32-50 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY
  • 976 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY
  • 4849 NE 138th Ave, Portland, OR
  • 8629 120th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA
  • 15901 SW Jenkins Rd, Aloha, OR
  • 27972 Cabot Rd, Laguna Nigel, CA
  • 2901 Los Feliz Blvd, Los Feliz, CA
  • 450 10th St, San Francisco, CA

What Do People Think About the Unlikely Collab?

The internet loves to roast hyped items as much as it loves buying them. This time, though, most of the shock seems to come from how very un-Costco this entire sneaker situation is.

“I’ve seen them sell for as high as $600 on eBay already! I’m surprised Costco collaborated but didn’t try and keep the cost down at retail,” said one user on Reddit.

“Is this a joke? It sounds like an April fools like joke,” asked another in disbelief.

One Redditor explained the shoe bluntly: “Those are ugly af. Sorry not sorry.”
