The period of time between Christmas and New Year’s is a weird thing. No one wants to cook, but no one wants to spend any more money on eating out than they already have during the holidays.
Enter: Wendy’s. The burger chain has decided to make lunch or dinner a lot easier on your wallet today — even cheaper than if you cooked something yourself. Here’s what the deal is all about, and how to get a 1-cent bacon cheeseburger yourself.
What’s the Wendy’s Bacon Cheeseburger Deal?
December 30th is National Bacon Day, something that clearly needs celebrating. In honor of it, Wendy’s is selling Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers for only 1 cent each.
“Post-holiday cooking fatigue is real,” Wendy’s explained in an emailed press release. “If a grinch stole your Christmas spirit, skip the kitchen stress, grab your bacon boost, and let Wendy’s do the heavy lifting.”
While we would love some 1-cent Baconators, the chain’s infamous bacon-laden burgers, we’ll happily devour a JBC all the same. It’s made with Wendy’s signature square beef patty, American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a soft bun.
The super cheap bacon cheeseburgers are only going to be available on December 30, so you better plan a trip to Wendy’s as soon as you read this.
What’s the Catch?
Like all of these cheap fast-food deals, there’s a catch — but it’s a pretty low-key one.
In order to get your Junior Bacon Cheeseburger for one cent, you’ll need to use the Wendy’s mobile app. If you already eat there and use offers from the app, you’re all set. But if you don’t, you’ll have to download the app and make a rewards account. No walking into a store or driving up to the window and ordering a 1-cent burger, unfortunately.
You’ll also need to make a purchase in order to get the cheap burger, because of course a global corporation that pays its CEO over $17 million a year can’t possibly give something away without making you spend more money. So plan on getting some fries, a drink, or maybe just a sauce packet if you can.

Someone on the Wendy’s Reddit summed up this deal quite nicely: “We get [a burger] for buying something + $.01 and they get our data and will send push [notifications] to anyone that doesn’t turn them off.”
Still, if you planned on treating yourself to some fast food anyway, it might make sense to choose Wendy’s and get a cheap JBC, no matter the catch.
