Wendy’s fans haven’t had a lot to be excited about when it comes to deals lately. The burger chain has been pulling back on its coupons and offers for a while now, so when an actually good deal does roll around, we feel like giving them a sarcastic round of applause.
That’s what’s happening with the latest Wendy’s deal: $1 cheeseburgers. Sure, that sounds great — but there’s always a catch. Here’s how you can technically get a dollar cheeseburger.
What’s the $1 Cheeseburger Deal?
The day after Valentine’s Day is “Singles Awareness Day,” apparently. Wendy’s has a burger called the Dave’s Single… See where this is going yet?
To commemorate Singles Awareness Day, the chain is offering Dave’s Single cheeseburgers for $1 on Sunday, February 15. It’s made with a quarter pound beef patty (in that square shape that Wendy’s is infamous for), American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup, and mayo on a toasted bun.
“Forget the drama, the ghosting, the ‘left on read’ texts,” the company said in a press release, absolutely attacking our situationships. “At Wendy’s, we’ve got something that actually shows up: a Dave’s Single.” Burn!
What’s the Catch?
You can’t just walk into a Wendy’s on Sunday and ask for a dollar cheeseburger though, because of course they have to get something out of this.

In order to get the $1 Dave’s Single, you have to order through the Wendy’s app, register a rewards account, and make another purchase with your cheap burger. Yeah, sounds about right.
There’s no minimum purchase requirement, at least, so you can just get a junior soda, a cookie, or whatever other cheap thing you can find just to get the deal. If you were planning on eating at Wendy’s already, it’s worth getting; otherwise, skip it.
But really, none of those hoops are surprising anymore, especially at Wendy’s where the deals, which were very good only two years ago, have gone south. The chain got rid of its super popular 4 for $4 meal deal and revamped its Biggie Bags to make them more expensive to start this year, and people hated it.
“Our definition of value has remained,” said one customer at the time. “What’s changed is that Wendy’s no longer delivers it.” Seems like that still applies to all of Wendy’s “deals” lately.
