Another mall staple is biting the dust. Francesca’s, a women’s clothing and accessories store, is closing all of its stores, according to a report from Women’s Wear Daily. The company, which began in 1999, has been a mall stalwart right from the start, and currently has about 450 locations in 45 states. Here’s what we know about the closures, including information on liquidation sales.
Is Francesca’s Going Out of Business?
Francesca’s has not issued an official statement about the situation yet, but the company has confirmed with multiple news outlets that it is “liquidating our inventory and closing soon,” and that all stores will be closing. That sure sounds to us like Francesca’s is going out of business completely.

In December 2020, the company filed for bankruptcy, but ultimately did not become a casualty of the pandemic. It has closed hundreds of stores since then.
According to the report by Women’s Wear Daily, at least one vendor that supplies products to Francesca’s alleges that they’re owed $250 million in unpaid invoices, and that “there has been no correspondence whatsoever from corporate to any of the vendors.” If that’s the case, and the company is not paying its bills, it seems like Francesca’s might plan on filing bankruptcy once again (though there has been no official word of that happening yet).
According to reports, some corporate employees have already been laid off without warning.
Are There Liquidation Sales?
Yes, Francesca’s locations have already started liquidation sales. According to TikToker @citlalicsalass, who says she works in a Francesca’s store in Texas, their entire store is 20% to 40% off starting January 20, 2026. Here are the specific details of those deals, according to the TikTok video.
- All clothing: 20% off
- Gifts: 20% off
- Jewelry: Buy one, get one for $9
- Accessories: 25% off
- Hair accessories: 30% off
These sales are scheduled to last about a week, said @citlalicsalass. After that, we’re not sure what will happen, whether it’s better sales or stores closing abruptly.
Sales on Francesca’s website have started as well. Almost the entire website is 20% off, and there’s a large section of “warehouse sale” items with everything priced at $10 or $15.
As with all going-out-of-business sales, all sales are final. That became the company’s return policy as of January 14, 2026, according to the company’s website.
As for gift cards, you can still check the balance of any Francesca’s gift card on the website, but there does not appear to be a link to purchase one anymore. If you got a gift card for the store for Christmas to use it, it’s probably best to do it ASAP.
