Valentine’s Day is the worst day to go out to dinner. Every restaurant is slammed, so it’s loud and decidedly unromantic. And to add insult to injury, restaurants jack up their prices higher than any other night of the year.

This year, skip all that hassle and plan an affordable, easy date night in with some takeout. Sure, it might feel a little silly to eat a heart shaped pizza or some of your sweetie’s favorite fast food, but at least you’ll have money leftover to buy some nice chocolates or make your car payment. There’s nothing more attractive than a responsible spender, so try these cheap takeout specials and deals this Valentine’s Day.

Qdoba: BOGO Free Burritos

Burrito chains have some of the best Valentine’s Day deals. Head to Qdoba on Feb. 14 to get one free burrito (or other entree) when you buy one and a drink. You must be a rewards member to get it, but you can order online or in-store.

Chick-fil-A: Heart-Shaped Chicken Nugget Tray

California Pizza Kitchen: $60 Sweet Deal for Two

Portillo’s: $25 Red Hot Meal Deal

This Chicago food chain has a great Valentine’s Day meal deal. For $25, you get eight chicken tenders and two small fries served in a heart-shaped tin, plus a sauce flight for dipping and a large chocolate covered strawberry shake. Get it from February 12-15, along with heart-shaped chocolate cakes. 

Auntie Anne’s: Heart-Shaped Pretzels and BOGO Free

Mall staple Auntie Anne’s will sell cinnamon sugar-coated pretzels shaped like hearts on Valentine’s Day. Bonus: If you’re a rewards member, you can get a free original or cinnamon sugar pretzel when you buy any pretzel product.

Marco’s Pizza: $8 Heart-Shaped Pizzas

Marco’s has one of the best deals on heart-shaped pizza, available Feb. 12-14. For just $8, you’ll get a one-topping heart-shaped pie. Add a big brownie for dessert for $14. 

Buca di Beppo: $60 Dinner for Two

McDonald’s: Free McNugget Caviar Kits

Feeling fancy but can’t afford to be? You can win caviar and McNuggets from McDonald’s for Valentine’s Day. If that’s not really your style, your local McD’s will probably have a 4-piece McNugget and fries meal for around $23 instead. 

Papa Murphy’s: $11 HeartBaker Pizza

Papa Murphy’s calls its heart-shaped pizza the HeartBaker, and we love it. It’s only $11 for cheese or pepperoni through Feb. 14. Add chocolate chip cookie dough for $16 total.

Pizza Hut: $12 Heart-Shaped Pizza

Pizza Hut gets in on the heart-shaped pizza thing as well. You’ll get a medium heart-shaped pie for $12. The best part? It’s available through February 22.
